We Go With The Snow!

2024-2025 Sunday Trip Destination Planned Schedule

The destination for the upcoming Sunday trip is announced on the website on the Monday prior to the trip. Due to changing weather patterns such as warm thaws, we monitor the weather predictions closely and select locations that have the best prospects for good skiing conditions for our members.

As a result, destinations may be changed during the week prior to Sunday in order to bring members to locations with snow that is good for skiing. Please check our website regularly or follow us on Facebook or X for updates.

The destination for the upcoming Sunday trip is announced on the homepage of the Trakkers website on the Monday prior to the trip.   

Departure times are 9:00 a.m. unless noted as an Early 8 a.m. departure.

2024-2025 Sunday Trip Information

Trail Fees

Trail fees are list for each resort. Classic Ski rentals are available at most resorts at a cost of approximately $30-$45 for a full day plus the cost of a trail pass. (Rental costs are more for skate skis, less for snowshoes.)

Trail fees are collected on the bus (CASH ONLY).  

Rental costs are paid directly to the ski resort.  Due to high demand most resorts now require members to book equipment directly in advance.  Policies vary with resorts so please check the Trakkers website each week for instructions for rentals.

Members' guests are welcome up to a limit of two reserved trips per season. Guests who have used up their two reservations are welcome to become members. Standby guests are welcome if seats are available (see Sunday Trips policy for more details).

Guest Waiver

Guests will be expected to have a signed waiver ready to hand to the bus captain when boarding the bus. Download Guest Waiver form here.

Bus Fare

 Irrespective of the method of payment, the fares are: 

  • Advance registration (member): $35

  • Advance registration (guests): $40

  • Standby passenger (member/guest): $45

  • Child (17 and under): $15

There are two ways to pay for your bus fare:

1. Online paymentTrakkers Ski Club prefers and strongly encourages advance registration and online payment. Bus fare can be paid online by credit card when you sign up for your trip. Your payment will appear on the passenger list which is provided to the bus captains each week. If you need a reminder of how to sign-up please see instructions (screens may vary slightly).

2. Cash –  If you are unable to pay the bus fare online when you register for the trip, you will be required to pay it in cash to the bus captain when boarding the bus.

Pick Up Location

The pick up location is on Indian Road, just north of Bloor Street West, underneath the subway overpass, by the entrance of the Keele subway station parking lot.  (Note: the buses can no longer park on Bloor Street due to the bike lanes). The buses leave at 9:00 am sharp and return by about 6:00 pm. There is plenty of free parking on Sundays at the Keele subway parking lot (see below).

Departure for Home

The buses leave the ski resort at 4:00 pm in December and January, 4:30 pm in February and March. Please be in your seat - the same seat on the same bus that you arrived in - before departure time.

List of Destinations

These destinations have been selected because they can accommodate 2 buses of Trakkers members, have indoor washrooms, and offer trails and rentals that meet members' desire for classic, skate and snowshoeing.

Trail fees for all Destinations are collected on the bus and must be paid in CASH.

Note: All rental costs listed below are plus HST unless otherwise noted.

 

Arrowhead Provincial Park (early departure 8 am)

The park is located just north of Huntsville, Ontario, on the beautiful Canadian Shield. There are a total of 33 km of groomed ski trails (22 classic and 11 skate). The park also has a 1.3 km ice skating trail, winding through the campgrounds in a loop.  This trail is kept smooth by Zamboni, so think about bringing your ice skates too! 

The visitor centre is used as a warm-up and lounge area .  It houses the winter rentals shop equipped with skis, ice-skates and snowshoes.  Washrooms are available and there are also washrooms close to the ice trail which is a 6 minute walk from the Visitor Centre. There may be fires lit outside for more warmup space.  Bring your lunch and snacks for the day as the  visitor centre only sells pre-packaged snacks..  There are a few microwaves available. Finally, there is a brand new, fully provisioned waxing room with5 ski forms, built in ventilation system, and really good heating so you're not freezing while you're waxing your skis.

Trail pass and Surcharge for Long distance Trip

$15 all ages

Cash will be collected on the bus for a combined amount of $15 to cover the additional bus cost of going to Arrowhead and $5/person to cover the cost of Bus Parking for the day which includes the trail fee.

Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre (early departure 8 am)

A beautiful destination near Parry Sound. With more than 30 km of trails winding through lush forest, Georgian Nordic offers great cross country skiing for the novice through to the expert. Georgian Nordic offers performance (combined classic and skate), back country and single track trails . Georgian Nordic does not offer food service but has everything else. A comfy chalet, indoor washrooms, classic and skate ski rentals. They often have two fire pits for warming up or to eat your lunch outdoors if you choose to.

Long distance surcharge $10 - An additional amount of $10 is collected on the bus to cover the cost of the bus.  The cash amount collected on the bus for an adult will be $30, which is the cost of a trailpass $20 plus the bus long distance surcharge of $10.

Hardwood Ski and Bike (9 am departure)

This resort is located close to Barrie and has classic and skate ski trails with 8 different loops ranging from 3.5 to 22 km, plus 12 km of snowshoeing trails, rolling trails through hardwood and pine forests. The chalet is open with washrooms downstairs and a water refill station.  Hot food and drinks are available at the Trail’s End Cafe and there are tables for dining and warm-up.  There is a lookout cabin on the trail with hot chocolate and fire pits.

There is indoor unsecured bag storage in a public area.

Retail Shop/Service & Repair: The Retail Shop is open for your Nordic shopping needs.

Hardwood’s Service & Repair Shop is open for the season.

Rentals: All rental equipment is located in the Main Chalet . Please refrain from bringing rentals into the Retail Shop.

Highlands Nordic (9 am departure)

Located on the top of the escarpment and close to the village of Duntroon, this resort has trails with breathtaking views of Georgian Bay. The 24 km trail network offers skiing for beginners to experts. The trails are groomed and track-set daily for both classic and skating techniques. There are 7.5 km of snowshoe trails. 

Highlands offers a cafeteria with hot soup, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and yummy homemade goodies.

There is a  pro-shop, rental department, service shop, and waxing facilities.

Horseshoe Resort - Cross Country (9 am departure)

Located at the edge of the Copeland Forest and at the junction of 2 snow belts, this resort has 40 km of groomed and track set trails through scenic rolling woodland. The trails are suited to all abilities, including 9 km of trails for snowshoeing.  There is  an eating area, ski rentals and a place for waxing.  

Members should bring their lunch and snacks for the day as there are limited options of premade sandwiches, muffins and cold drinks for sale.  This resort also has a small retail shop.

Located 40 km north of Peterborough, there are 34 km of classic trails and 13.5 km of skating trails plus, for snowshoers, 10 km of wilderness trails following a loop through beautiful Canadian Shield terrain.  Trail maps and other useful information is found on their website https://kawarthanordic.ca.

There is no cafeteria or other food service on site, so you will need to bring your own food.

Members requiring rentals will need to book in advance to ensure having equipment available.

Mansfield

The Mansfield Outdoor Centre is located in Dufferin County and is nestled in the hills of Mulmur Township on 300 acres of forest, fields and the Pine River.   Their trail network provides a choice of different trails graded from novice to intermediate winding through the beautiful forest with many picturesque views of the Mulmur Hills.

The main lodge is open with a dining area, cafe, lounge, washrooms, rental building, outdoor seating areas.   The Pine River Cafe serves sandwiches, soups, chili, baked goods, coffee, tea, juice.

Scenic Caves Nordic Centre (9 am departure)

This resort is on the highest point of the Niagara Escarpment, approximately 10 km west of Collingwood. The trails range from beginner to intermediate. The area offers beautiful scenery, two lookouts over Georgian Bay and the Osler Valley, wooded wilderness and usually good snow conditions. There are 27 km of combined classic and skate skiing trails, along with 10 km of snowshoe trails.  

There are ski rentals, waxing facilities, and a small store for ski gear. As part of your trail pass fee, Trakkers has the use of a separate building which is a large 2-level log cabin with heated washrooms next door.  Trakkers will have access to these heated  washrooms as well as the cabin basement for changing and storing your bags for the day.  The cabin is heated by a wood stove.  Trakkers members can use the cabin as a warming station and to eat your lunch.  Bring your own lunch and snacks.  The main building will have soup and chilli for sale but the eating area is quite small and it is a 5 minute walk to the cabin.

Wasaga beach Provincial Park

The park has 30 km of groomed trails, including 12 km of skating trails and backcountry snowshoe trails.  There is a waxing hut on site.

There is no cafeteria so bring your own lunch, snacks and water for the day!

The building is a 900 sq. ft. building with limited capacity but there is seating for you to eat your lunch and the waxing hut will also be open.
